Harajuku ready!

Just a couple weeks ago, I took my number 1 hair model, Laura from Dime Piece, back to brunette for the Metro Pop Magazine Shoot. Check out that post HERE

Now, I took her lighter. Ready for Japan with Joy Rich this week!

A timed and  fast pace process.

photo-1

I decolorized her whole head.

Foiling the top part, where her hair is the longest, to make sure the application was even.

You need to keep an eye on the process, seeing what color is coming up.

When we reached a desired color, I toned her a couple shades darker.

Brazilian Blowout on Ashley

logo

I’ve been styling and maintaining the manes of the girls  from Dime Piece Designs and enjoying it! They are fun to work with it and I get to  play with new ideas.

Ashley is always seen with stick straight hair, or in her cute little turban, but realistically she has CURLY hair.  It gets pretty wild when it’s not done up. When she found out I was doing the Brazilian Blowout , she was one of the first to jump on it!  Ashley cares for the health of her hair and didn’t want to do the extreme and do something permanent, like a relaxer or permanent straightening to change her hair bonds. So this service is actually a perfect treatment for her.

-At the salon, the process took a little over 90 minutes.

-When you get out, you can continue with your everyday schedule. Don’t be afraid to wash your hair, you should use the recommended Shampoo and Conditioner though because it has complementing ingredients to help the treatment last longer.

-You will definitely notice your hair slimmer than before with a lot of shine!

The Brazilian Blowout lasts for a bout 3 months, with proper at home maintenance, and actually improves the health of your hair. The results for this treatment is an intense amount of shine, less frizz and a cut down on your blow drying time.

Cut & Color – Metro Pop Magazine

The girls from Dime Piece Designs were in a shoot for Metro Pop Magazine. It was time for Laura’s touch up and frequent visit at my second home, Salon Sessions in Pasadena.

Still keeping her hair short and cute.

We’re staying away from going lighter… for now.

So i deepend her faded auburn with a deep violet.

Added a couple highlits in the front to break the solidness of the overall hair color. The highlights were very fine, not too chunky just to blend in. I love the result of it! Looks like a hint of purple and blue

The new bob for 2010

gwynethpaltrow_hairgwyneth-paltrow-hairstyle-bob

My personal opinion of the new bob for 2010 is the Gwyneth Paltrow bob. It’s sexy and simple.

I’ve been getting a couple requests lately for this exact shoulder length, minimal layers bob. I totally see why. It makes the in between phase of growing your hair out look hot! The shortest length hits just at your neck, and angled a tiny bit in the front with a little lenght. Like a grown out angle bob.

Hilites for a quick change

laura

Adding some highlights can brighten up some features in your face. Adding all over hilites can change your whole look.

Laura wanted to go blonde again.

I decided to just do all over hilites, compared to bleach out the whole thing. Adding hilites can preserve some of your hair’s health. Also, when wanting a good change, be prepared to be in the salon for some time. With Laura’s request to go all over blonde again, coming from a dyed – black hair color, you need be in the salon for some time to make sure we get the right color.

Say hello to Eva

Eva

Previous post also titled “Say hello to Eva”, she wanted to go red.  Red is a beautiful color, but you gotta be high maintenance to keep up with it (fades quick). As much as Eva had fun with the red, this winter many of my clients have been going natural.

Always a fun client to have in my chair!

Say hello to Cindy

cindycindy

My blockbuster night-let’s party during spring break friend, meet Cindy

CUT:

She naturally has a lot of hair and coarse. Main thing for most people who have long hair is: Keep the length.

First I “air trimmed” the lenght, just to freshen up the ends, but not taking too much off.

Then,  I decided to thin out her hair, not using thinning shears, but my own shears to thin out specific areas I wanted. Detailing. Also,  I added a lot  of fun layers all around to give her a lot of movement and the feeling of lighter hair.

COLOR:

Kept her base color

Just added blocks of lightened pieces for fun

Say hello to Michelle

Say hello to Michelle

One of my awesome clients, meet Michelle.

She was ready to take her hair a couple levels darker for the winter.

I decided to use a gloss, a conditioning-deposit only color that is great for toning, enhancing, cancelling your artificial hair color. I decided  to not take it too dark just in case if she wants to go lighter, her hair won’t go through so much shock of transition. It was just dark enough to grab and give her a dark coating.

I love how her previous blonde hilites still peek through for an instant dimension.

Before and After with my mom

mom-aftermom

Meet my mom… Rosellee

She is not big on make up or hair, but it’s ok because she doesn’t need much of it, she is already beautiful. Awwww..lol  I just find it funny that I have to force her to come to the salon whereas others would jump on the opportunity to get their hair and make up done all the time. Ok well.. It’s not that dramatic. My mom lives a good drive away and she is pretty busy .

I’ll be doing another makeover on my mom as soon as I get her to come in the salon, going shorter!

Say hello to Desboobs!

DesboobsAn oldie but a goodie!!

DESBOOBS: Brings the heat, the hooker street and the mashed up beat!!!

I go way back with Des and her hair changes. We’ve done the shag, the pixie, the peter pan and we couldn’t resist the weave. Yup! we’d take turns gluing those wefts on and blowdrying it on our scalps.. A hot mess! lol

This is one of my faves! From Jet black to a little platinum action.

Say Hello to Mama Melinda!

melindamelinda-side

Mama Melinda has curly hair.  When she came in to the salon, her hair was just brushed out and air dried. I noticed that her curls were dragging her hair and did not have much movement. She wanted something cute that she can do straight and curly . I went for the sleek angled cut. It is perfect to straighten, and has an edgier look. And if she decides to leave it curly, her curls will be a lot bouncier with the shorter length.

p.s. and easier to style!

Say hello to Laura Dimes

Soooo we finally did it… For a while I have been experimenting with one of my ever evolving- chameleon like client. Mostly with color, and subtly on the cut. Only because she has always had long hair, and for most girls it is a major attachment. And a trim means pretty much “can you just air trim it?” She has mentioned before just to cut it all off but I was super hesitant, I do not want to be the blame that occurs after someone decides to spontaneously go short. It is an emotional rollercoaster.

So the reason why I decided to cut it all off? Well it has been a little over a year since she has mentioned several times to cut it off, so that tells me she has been “emotionally ready” and has probably been imagining herself with short cuts for a while. And also, it was for her 23rd bday!
I personally think it totally suits her.. a great way to start all over..and can help define your personal identity

Say hello to Tiffany Reyes

She was a bit hesitant to do 2 things: go lighter and the full, sexy bangs.
I just said let’s do it! She has a light skin tone to go light and why not with the bangs? She can try it out since they aren’t too short and can still sweep to the side.

Beauty tips

1. Your skin can renew itself more effectively at night than during the day so make sure to keep your face well moisturized especially before bed.

2. To get rid of spots on your face use lavender or tea tree oil on those spots with a cotton swab.
3. To get instant radiant, glowing skin you can use a luminous moisturizer, my favorite is strobe creme from MAC.

Smashbox studio x KID WHISKEY

Last Sunday, the 26th I helped a coworker and creative director for “KID WHISKEY Band” shoot at the smashbox studio.

Guys in the band were so fun. Drinking whiskey on set, is that how they got they’re name? Ryan Crosby “Baggins” on guitar, vox=================== Neal Richter Dr. on the Ums================= Mike Meeker on the Low====================== Robbie “BagginBall Z” Pugliese the Other Guitar (O.G)

btw: I want my own personal smashbox studio in my backyard. It was the biggest skateboard ramp I’ve ever seen. So clean and super white you didn’t want to step on it.
Just wanted to give some credit to Joseph Renee, creative director/hairstylist
and Stephanie for styling the guys.

Say hello to KrystalBee!

What a fun client by the way! So glad to have met her!

So….after some hardcore debating, she decides to take a step away from black over black. Looked good on her but most people that have been dying their hair black , want to change  but are scared. They keep the black  for a couple reasons.
1. its easy(comfort)
2. brings out features
3. and have probably gotten denied by a stylist to change it because of the dramatic work.

When Krystal came in, I had to really listen to what she was saying. From black to any color, even dark brown, may be too dramatic of a change, so you have to be careful. Getting a desired result can happen in a day, but may take FOREVER and be damaging. So we took a break in between process. After it was all done, I highly recommended for her to come in for a treatment to keep her hair healthy and check out the tone of her lightness.

“My hair has been black pretty much all my life and going from black to brown was a big change for me. I was always skeptical about doing it because after dying my hair black for so many years I knew it was going to be hard to get all the color out. I had gone to places and other hair stylists before that refused to do it because they would have to bleach my hair to get the color out and then dye it which takes a toll on your hair. When i met with Azelle she knew exactly what to do to my hair to get me the brown I wanted as well as keep it as healthy as possible. Once i was there i talked myself into getting bangs because I wanted a change and Azelle is magic with the scissors. I am satisfied with my new cut and color. :) ” Krystal Guzman
