Dry Shampoo Beauty Tip

September 3, 2015

dry shampoo tutorial dry shampoo video

Dry shampoo….a girl’s best friend! This is just a quick tip if you’re new to using dry shampoos. Originally people would put powder or baking soda in their hair if it was too greasy, the powder absorbs all the excess oils. Now, we have it conveniently in aerosol bottles. Has similar effect of powder, so don’t be scared if it sprays white. It was probably sprayed a little too much, or too close or just the type of product you have. And that’s totally okay. Just comb through and it will blend right in. You will notice oil absorb, slight texture and some volume

Dry shampoos are great for keeping you from washing your hair all the time, which drys out your hair. It absorbs oil, gives volume and texture! And perfect for all you gym goers!

Makeup Monday- Sad Girl Glossy Lips

March 30, 2015

Hello Beauties!

Here is a quick tutorial on how to do a dark glossy lip. The reason why I did a gloss over this dark color was because this formulation from Anastasia BH is a bit too drying on my lip. I added the gloss over and I really just loved it. You can of course, go with out the gloss and keep it matte.

Products Used:
NYX Lip Liner in Plum”
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in “Sad Girl”
Urban Decay Lipgloss in “Love Junkie

Makeup Monday- Eyeliner Favorites

February 9, 2015

IMG_7148Hey Everyone!

I love Eyeliner! It’s one of the products that I can’t leave the house without wearing. 99% of the time I have a winged liner and when I don’t I feel incomplete. I get a lot people asking me what I use to achieve the perfect wing, so I thought I’d share my go to favorites.

1)E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner- Target for $1
Ok this is my alllllllll time favorite eyeliner. It is what i use every day. It glides on easy and smooth and the brush at the
end is the perfect length. And for a dollar you can’t go wrong right?!

2)Inglot AMC Gel Liner #77- – $13
This eyeliner is worth every cent let me tell you! Its seriously the blackest gel liner I have ever used. Its super smooth and it lasts. I love this for when I do glitter on my eyes and i really want the liner to stand out.

IMG_71443) Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner- Sephora $24
This liner is a little pricey but I feel like if you really struggle with getting a winged liner its perfect. With just 2 clicks the liner comes out and you basically stamp where you want your wing and then just drag it in. You do have to work quickly with this product because it does dry quickly.

Let me know what eyeliner you love and #LAMakeupMonday & #LadyArtLooks to show us your work!

Makeup Monday- Tattoo Cover Up

January 26, 2015
Tattoo Coverup

Happy Monday!

So I posted a photo on my personal instagram last week and I got a bunch of  texts from my friends asking me: “How in the world did you cover that tattoo with makeup!?” Color Theory my friend, Color Theory.

When we correct our under eye darkness, in most cases we use a salmon color to cancel out the bluish tones right? Right. We use opposite colors (or complimentary colors) from the color spectrum to cancel them out.
Bust out your color wheel or use the one below for reference. Follow these steps

color-wheel.jpg (1102×1102)1) Figure out what colors are in the tattoo.
(The picture above the bow was actually pink, (which is a hue of red) I used Green (Green is opposite of red) to cancel out the pink, but I only placed it in the areas where there was pink)

2)Find out what each color’s opposite is.

3)Take cream based makeup and use complimentary colors to go over tattoo. If you have multiple colors in the tattoo this will require some patience. You are basically going over whole tattoo color by color, this takes time.

Tip: Most “black” tattoos are actually a hue of green. Use red to cancel it out

4. Take a concealer and gently and ever so carefully pat the product over the tattoo

5. Set with powder

You may have to do a few layers switching between concealer and powder but be patient, trust me it will work!

Don’t forget to show us your work!

Makeup Monday-How To Cover Acne Scars

December 29, 2014

Welcome back everyone!

So, this is a huge topic for me…Acne. I’ve had it my whole life just about and it’s why I started wearing makeup. I didn’t  know at the time that you have to start with skin care, rather than just trying to hide it (I was really young).

About a year and a half ago my acne got the worst its ever been. I was diagnosed with cystic acne and the only treatment that worked for me was Accutane. Accutane is a very powerful drug that must be monitored closely by a doctor. Through testing for this I found out that I was actually sick with a few things.

After all that my face was finally cleared up. I still get a few zits here and there but it is so much better than it was. I am now left with really bad scaring mostly on my cheeks that consists of indentations and valleys that are almost impossible to conceal.

With the right technique I am now able to minimize the appearance of my scars and make my face appear so much smoother.

Please be kind to me, this is my first video I’ve ever made and posted. I promise I will try my best to make my future videos a whole lot better in the future! If you have dealt with the same problems that I have and find this video helpful please like it, subscribe and most importantly share with us! I love to see everyone’s photos on #LAmakeupmonday!

Watch and Enjoy!

Beauty Tip: Hot or Cold Water Rinse For Your Hair?

December 15, 2014

 beauty tip

beauty tip

Did you ever think about water temperature when you get in the shower? I didn’t. I enjoyed my hot showers….Until I learned about the benefits of washing your hair with hot and cold water. Here’s an easy breakdown of the pros and cons of washing with hot or cold water.

Hot Water

Pros: Rinses away dirt, oil, product buildup. Hot water is great for opening your pores and hair cuticles to remove all this

Cons: Since hot water opens up your hair cuticles, it’ll strip your hair and scalp it’s natural oils we need for moisture, and will cause frizzy hair

Cons: With hair cuticles open, it’ll cause hair color to fade

Cold Water

Pros: Opposite of hot water, it seals the cuticles keeping moisture in, causing less frizz and more shine

Pro and/or Cons, Depending if you like fullness or not: Since cold water maintains moisture and less frizz, it may result in flatter hair.

What I’ve learned is, cold water leaves your hair soft and shiny.  But I will not take a cold bath! What’s a girl to do? take a warm bath and your final rinse before stepping out of the shower is a cool rinse.  A nice little wake up call if you take morning showers! lol

Makeup Monday- Wing Eyeliner Made Easy

December 1, 2014

Hey Everyone!
So Today I wanted to share an easy way to create a Winged Eyeliner. I do a wing liner just about everyday, its my my favorite. I get a lot of questions about how I get both eyes even. The truth is, it really just takes practice. Good news is that if you don’t have a lot of time to practice and you really wanted this look for tonight’s party or for a night out, I have an easy trick!

1. Start by taking your favorite concealer and drawing a line from outer corner of your eye up towards your eyebrow. This will ensure your wing placement is most flattering.

2.Take any gel or liquid liner and draw a thin line onto your lash line.

3.Now draw a line right above the concealer line you drew before. Make sure not to follow the line all the way up to the brow; just extend the line out as far as you feel comfortable.

4.Next connect the lines. I start from he point of the wing and bring it back in towards your lash line.

5.All that’s left to do is fill in the wing. From this point you can make any corrections you may need, like making the wing more extended out or making the liner thicker; Its all up to you and what you like.

Add some mascara and falsies (if you choose to) and you got yourself a perfect winged liner.

Don’t forgot to show us your Winged Liner by hash-tagging #LAMakeupMonday!!!
