Half Up Waves Hair Tutorial

September 20, 2016

Straight or Wavy?

My hair is naturally straight, to get it this pretty wave, I use the Hot Tools Deep Waver and I love it!

Similar to the effect of braiding your hair wet and letting it dry, you’ll get similar pretty waves.

Check out the video, I did a quick little twisted half up style after I waved my hair. Also you’re going to love Kenra’s new matte hairspray. Flake free, brushable, humidity resistant, that dries on contact, the perfect finishing spray. It’s a medium hold and not too shiny, perfect for undone, tossled hair styles!

Texture Braided Top Knot Hair Tutorial

September 13, 2016

textured top knottextured top knottextured top knot

I’ve been seeing this cute hairstyle and finally decided to do it!

  1. Section just the top half of your hair, nothing above the ear.

2. I did a 3 strand braid, braiding over the middle, continually grabbing from each side

3. once you reach the top of your head, secure with rubber band

4. braid the pony, grab a thin section from that braid and push hair toward the first braid

this will create a flower look.

5. Wrap that flower braid into a bun and pin down with bobby pins

Try it!

I wanted to something more wearable for any day of the week whether you’re going to work or school, and it can easily transition into a night out look if you want to top it off with glitter.

Let me know what you think! As always, share your looks with us! #LAMakeupMonday

May 7, 2014

We love all natural ingredients and found another one to share with you! Super easy to make and do. This mask will help promote hair growth and soften your hair. Rosemary essential oil stimulates hair follicles, cleans scalp to allow new growth. Almond oil is high in moisture, rich in vitamins  E, D, Iron, Magnesium, Calcium and fats and will definitely soften your hair.

1/4 cup Almond Oil
15-20 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

(measurements varies with amount of hair and length)

Mix ingredients together in a jar, place jar in boiling water until ingredients are warm in jar.

Apply mask from roots to ends and leave in for 30 minutes. Use a shower cap to cover hair and shampoo several times to remove mask fully.

How to blowdry your hair: Written tutorial

March 2, 2014

Here’s a written tutorial on how to blowdry your hair like you just got it done professionally. Well, close to it. No round brush necessary. Just a tweak in your routine to get that volumized look.

First, products are important. I like to start off with some volumizing sprays or mousse on the roots, on damp hair. Then, apply heat protectant in the ends. This will protect your hair from the blowdry and any hot tools you’ll be using after and adds moisture.

Now for your professional at home blowdry:
1) Start blowdrying your crown area. Lift your roots and dry your roots first. You can flip your head upside down or use a wide tooth brush or fingers to lift your roots and dry. Blow drying your roots first gives you that natural volume. Sometimes we tend to get the blowdryer and start drying the ends first, leaving the roots to dry flat.

Once your roots are completely dry…

2) Rough dry the rest of the hair. No particular way, you can section and clip away hair if you have thick hair.

By now you should have your whole head dry. So you have the option to start curling your hair or flat iron the ends.

At the end of the blowdry, use a lightweight shine spray to control fly aways and adds shine. Don’t forget your hairspray!
