Here is a soft brown smokey eye I did. Its a super natural eye that you can wear on or off the red carpet. This is the type of smokey eye that you can wear everyday! I used only 3 colors and it take only a few minutes to do. So if you say you dont have time to do your makeup in the morning watch this tutorial and it will change your mind! haha

Base: Rubenesque

Step 1: Apply Rubenesque all over the bottom half of your lid, for your eye shadow to last ALL day. I like to apply this with my fingers.

Eye Shadow:

MAC

Honesty

Texture

Rice Paper

Step 2: Apply Honesty Directly on top of your base using a flat brush to pack on your shadow.

Step 2: Apply Texture to the crease of your eye.  Start at the outter corner and blend in, use a 224 brush from MAC.

Step 3: Apply Rice Paper to your brow bone. Right below your eye brows, you can use a 217 brush.

Step 4: With a small blending brush apply rice paper right below your lower lash line.

Eye Liners: Graph Black, Boot Black from MAC

Step 5: Apply Graph Black eye liner to your water line.

Step 6: Apply Boot Black eye liner to the top of your eye, start from the end of your eye and line to the middle and then do your inner corner and line to the middle.

Step 7: Apply your Mascara or Lashes, mine are #3 lashes from MAC

Step 8: Apply your gloss and lip liner, this is cherry and russian red gloss.

Final Look!

My friend Jessica, who is a celebrity hair stylist recommended this brush to me. She said that this brush will detangle your hair without it ripping your hair off. My hair is crazy thick and wild! I ALWAYS get this weird knot at the bottom, I swear it looks like I have dreadlocks. haha Conditioner doesn’t even help it!

So when she told me about this brush I didn’t think much of it but when I saw it at the hair show this last weekend for $5 I had to buy it! So the next day after I got out of the shower I brushed my hair with this “Miracle” brush it took me seconds to take out the knots and it didn’t even hurt. Its weird, how does it do that? lol

The real test is when I try it out on my sons long hair and if he doesn’t complain then I am definitely naming this the miracle brush!

1.) Gather your hair to the side getting started for that side braid

Its no surprise that I LOVE bright lips. Its my favorite thing to do! If I HAD to choose one piece of makeup to live with for the rest of my life (thank God I don’t really have to do that) but I would definitely have to keep my red lips.

See I’m telling you… Same bright lip, Different day. 

I have done many Red Carpet events in my days and anytime someone is not sure about trying on a bright lip, I apply it on just so they can see it and they end up LOVING it.

Like… April, Trey Songz mom. I do her makeup when she is in town attending events with her son. This is her with a bright lip, I talked her into doing this for a premiere she was attending and she loved it.

You would be surprised on how many steps can go into achieving the perfect red lip. I mean you obviously don’t do these steps everyday but when you are attending a red carpet event or taking pictures all night long these steps make a difference!

Hey guys, I was watching American Idol the other day and Jennifer Lopez had this amazing smokey eye! Her eyes were super dark and she had this light pale pink lipstick on. I mean… she is gorgeous anyway so I would think that any makeup she had on would look amazing! haha but it inspired me anyway to create another fun, simple tutorial. If you guys have any other suggestions on what I should show or do differently please let me know.

So I have now been a makeup artist for officially 10 years! geez I feel old! but I have quite a few Red Carpet experiences under my belt. From big events like the Grammys and Oscars to small store openings! A few things you have to remember about red carpet you got to use primers and long lasting makeup because these events are long and they cant go in looking gorgeous and come out looking, well…. not so pretty! haha

Some brands of primers I like are, smashbox, two faced, and Laura Mercier. I have never had a problem with these and also know that these will definitely help your foundation last all night! Primers to use on your eyes, Urban Decay, and Macs paint pots! I love them!

Anyway, here is one look I put together for you all recreating Kim K’s look at the Golden Globes and I also added some fun nails to go with the look:)

Base: painterly (mac)
Lower lid: coppering (mac)
Crease: brownscript (mac)
Deep crease: handwritten (mac)
Highlight: vanilla (mac)

It’s Nectar Thermique by Kerastase. Kerastase is known for their styling products with treatment for each hair type.

I love Nectar Thermique for a couple reasons:

1) A leave in conditioner, everyone needs a leave in. Think of it as lotion for your hair like you put lotion on your body on a daily. Apply after showering on damp hair and style or let air dry

2) Thermal protection, you know you’re hair is protected from heat when you blowdry, flat iron or curl

3) for Dry to very dry hair, extra emollients to give you enough moisture

Lower Lid: Teddy eyeliner (mac) all over your lower lid and blend w/ your finger
Lower Lid: greensmoke (mac) on top of Teddy.
Crease: Brownscript (mac)
Highlight: Vanilla (mac)
Waterline: Teddy (mac) Smoke out with pencil brush and add a bit of handwritten.

Top off shadow with reflects antique glitter from mac.
