Kim Kardashian and her sisters are known to have there hair super long, thick with naturally soft curls. I have worked with their hair stylist Maisha Oliver on a few shoots for Keri Hilson and I know that she does an amazing job on their hair. So since I have gotten a whole lot of requests to do a hair tutorial I had in this (click here) video I finally did it if for some reason the video is not working on this site click here to watch this hair tutorial.
How to get Red Carpet Ready!
So I have now been a makeup artist for officially 10 years! geez I feel old! but I have quite a few Red Carpet experiences under my belt. From big events like the Grammys and Oscars to small store openings! A few things you have to remember about red carpet you got to use primers and long lasting makeup because these events are long and they cant go in looking gorgeous and come out looking, well…. not so pretty! haha
Some brands of primers I like are, smashbox, two faced, and Laura Mercier. I have never had a problem with these and also know that these will definitely help your foundation last all night! Primers to use on your eyes, Urban Decay, and Macs paint pots! I love them!
Anyway, here is one look I put together for you all recreating Kim K’s look at the Golden Globes and I also added some fun nails to go with the look:)
Don’t you want to learn how to get these fancy pantsy nails?! Hope you love it!
xoxo, Alana Dawn

Aqua Smokey Eyes For the Day!
WHAT I USED…
1.Base: Aqua gel liner MAC
2. Lid: Aquadisiac MAC, reflects teal glitter on top
2. Deep Crease: use black shadow and blend up.
3.Crease: Then soften the black shadow by overlapping it with Texture from MAC (soft brown)
4. Highlight: Use a light matte shadow, Blanc Type from MAC
5. Eyeliner: Thinly line your lash line with black track gel liner from MAC
6. Waterline: Smolder MAC
7. Eyebrows: I have a good step by step tutorial for this, Video is below.
Product: Smolder Eye Khol Liner
Texture: A Creamy Texture, Easy to Blend, Deepest Black Liner
Likes: You know back in the day when you would melt your black liner with a lighter so it can have a soft texture, to glide on your eye smoothly and stay super dark, That is pretty much how smolder is without having to melt it. lol I love to use this product for runways, You can use it on the crease and set with black shadow so the black stays really dark. Or use it all around your lid and smear out with a blending brush for a smokey eye look.
You Gotta love Keeping Up With The Kardashian, they are hilarious I can’t wait for the new episodes set to air on November 8th, 2009.
Anyway, my cousin loves, loves, loves kim, so for her birthday I took a pic of Mrs Kardashian and made her up! Below are the pics for the tutorial.
apply rubenesque paint pot from MAC over your lid.
Take smut eye shadow from MAC and with a 224 brush(MAC) start at the corner of your eye and blend towards the center of your crease.
To soften your eye shadow take a natural brown, Im using brown script from MAC and apply to your crease on top of the smut eye shadow.
Take black track and an angle brush from MAC and apply it over your top eye lid.
-apply graph black eyeliner to your water line.
-take a pencil brush , a couple swipes into smut eye shadow and follow you lower eye lid, to get the smokey look.
finish it off by applying mascara or eye lashes.
I lightened her eyes so you can compare the pic to Kims.
WOW so she actually did it. The whole fun with the wig was obvious a trial to do the real thing. It looks amazing on her, like a bronze goddess. She is so beautiful she could have pulled it off anyway, but just the drastic change from deepest brunette to jump to caramel/bronze takes a lot of self preparation to do. I always suggest my clients who want the dramatic change from long to bob short hair, or black to even a medium brown to blonde to be “mentally ready”. Imagine yourself in your new style/color. Be comfortable in it. Know that it is totally different from your everyday change and just have confidence in your new look!
The one thing I did notice and compare was going lighter for Kim brightens her up, makes her look even more tanned. In her brunette days, it showed her exotic features a lot more, very mysterious. Both very sexy
