Wedding Wednesday: Side Bun Edition

Here is a version of the side bun. So many different types, really depends on the hair length too. My client has medium length, coarse hair.

For the wedding, she was one of the bridesmaid, she wanted a side style. I love playing around with the layers and random lengths. On her left side, I used her layer as a little design. I love doing wedding hair!

Makeover Monday: Hair and Makeup

azelleHair/MakeUp

On this day, I asked her if I can do a before and after and play around with some new makeup I got.

Here’s the before and after, I know I wish the picture was clearer! lol

Her Hair: Fine

What she wants: “to freshen up” her hair, volume and rich dark brown color

The cut: just a slight trim on the ends, mostly layered above the shoulder for volume and fullness. Added more to the fringe area and cleaned it up

The color: Deep dark brown, demi permanent for shine and less ammonia

The style: Bumble and Bumble styling creme on the roots and round brushed style

Blue Eyeshadow Tutorial

alanaBeauty Tips DIY Hair/MakeUp

Tutorial Thursdays

If you guys have been following me i LOVE doing colored eye shadow looks that are wearable.

I also applies 2 different lashes to the same look so you can see the difference between a dramatic lash and a natural lash.

1. Apply an eyeshadow base all over your lid. I used painterly from MAC. This is a good base that you can use with any eye shadow color.

2. Take a black shadow, I used The black shadow from the Naked2 palette from Urban Decay but you can use any brand you have. Create a V shape at the outer corner of your eye.

3. With a blending brush apply a soft brown shadow to blend the colors together. I used texture from MAC.

4. Now with a flat brush apply Parrot Shadow from MAC right next to the black shadow. Note: apply only to the bottom half of your lid, don’t go above the crease.

5.Usng a dark black kohl pencil apply it to your waterline. I used Smolder from MAC.

6. Then create a winged eyeliner using urban decays 24/7 liquid eyeliner, perversion.

7.  Apply Lashes to your lash line. In the photo above I used  Double up Lashes #205 from Ardell Lashes.

Im using more of a Natural Lash on the photo below.

These are the lashes used in the photo above, I LOVE that they have more lashes on the end of the lash. Ardell Lashes Edgy #401

And for those of you who ask what colors I use on the Anastasia Pro Palette. I use the darker color on the “dark brown” combo to line the bottom part of my brow and the darker color on the “strawburn” combo to fill in my brow.

Half up/Half down Do

For this beautiful bride, she wanted curly half up/half down hair style. During the trial, I took note that her hair type, (medium coarse), won’t hold curls too long. So I made sure to prep her hair properly and make sure the curls would hold!

The Prep: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hair Spray  I love this stuff! Spray on damp hair (for thick or thin) to add the texture and fullness, with heat protection. I sprayed heavily through out her damp hair and blow dried completely.

The Style: I curled with a 1″ iron from hot tools (my favorite!), taking thin sections and pinning to the hair. Taking thinner sections on her hair type will allow the curls to last longer. Let her curls loosen naturally, or take an extremely wide tooth comb, or your fingers and lightly brush through. This picture was during the trial and was not brushed through. Finish with hair spray

*note: remove the pins after the curls have been fully cooled, this promises a stronger hold on the curl

Tutorial Tuesdays!

Hello Ladies and Gents!!

I posted this look on my instagram a few days ago for my Mothers Day Look,

I finally have time to write out what I used.

1. After applying a shadow primer all over your lid you are going to want to use Naked Pigment from MAC right below your brows.

2. Using a blending brush you are going to want to softly brush Saddle from MAC across your crease.

3. Then you are going to highlight the center of your lid with Naked Pigment using a flat brush.

4. With a pencil brush, take sketch eyeshadow from MAC and brush it across your lower lid right below your lash line. You can also blend into your water line like I did or you can use a brown eyeliner.

5. Using Urban Decay Cosmetics liquid eyeliner, extend the liner past your lid creating a winged liner. Then Apply bombshell lashes from House of Lashes.

Face Makeup

Contour and Highlight

I am using Studio Fix Fluid NC 35 all over my face

Highlight: with NC20 Full Coverage Concealer from MAC

Contour: NC50 Full Coverage Concealer From MAC

Lips:

I wanted a matte finish so I used embrace me lip liner

from MAC all over my lips.

I hope you guys enjoyed this. Let me leave me feed back on my instagram or youtube!! I would love to hear back what you want to see next!!!

xoxo,

Alana Dawn

Mother’s Day Makeover

azelleHair/MakeUp

Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard working, loving, beautiful Mothers out there!

My mom has long, wavy hair. It’s hard for her to style and has been wanting a change. So earlier today, I chopped off I don’t know how many inches off her hair and gave her something more manageable!

The before is right after she got out of the shower so it looks a mess! All tangled up, that’s what she is tired of dealing with.

For the after,

The cut: Medium length with lots of layers, easier for her to style

The products: Biolage leave in conditioner on the ends

Jennifer Lopez makeup MET Gala

alanaBeauty Tips DIY Hair/MakeUp

I just love me some JLo!

I recreated her makeup look from the MET Gala using the Naked2 Palette

(above it how the palette looks)

JLo looking gorgeous at the MET Gala.
Styled by Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi

Up close and personal!

Step 1: apply Foxy and Bootycall to your brow highlight using a flat brush.

Step2: Using a shader brush take booty call and line through the crease to the end of your eye.

Step3: Fill in the entire area with bootycall

Step4: Shade booty call down below your lower lash line using the same shading brush.

Step5: take busted and a pencil brush blend it in your water line and below your lash line righ on top of bootycall.

Step6: Using Verve apply it to the inner corner of your eyes to brighten those bad boys up!

Step 7: Apply House of Lashes Bombshell to your lash line.

For my brows I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Palette and corrected them with her concealer.

Meet my cute little client. It was her first time to do color, she was a little hesitant but we decided to make it more natural looking.

The Cut: Added layers, made it extra choppy for texture

The Color: Ombre with a natural color

The Style: Curling Iron beach waves

Project: Long hair and Layers

azelleHair/MakeUp

One of my favorite things to do is adding layers to LONG hair! I just LOVE the way it looks!

For Long/Fine hair- you can create the appearance of fullness

For Long/Thick hair- you can remove a lot of the weight, which allows for easier styling and faster blow dry time

Here’s one of my girls who has extremely long hair, medium density, yes All hers- no extensions! lol
