Kenra No Ammonia Lightener

June 17, 2014

My first time using a no ammonia lightener and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I used it on my client with fragile hair, fairly porous ends from previous bleach. And it did take some time to process, I used 20 volume. But after, her hair felt surprisingly good with the amount of time I left it on.

1) Full highlights with 20 volume
2) Process 45min
3) Rinse
4) kenra 8na Demi on the roots
5) rinse and tone

Benefits of Honey for your Body

June 16, 2014

I love honey as my natural sweeter, as much as possible I try to stick to natural ingredients and products. Honey has lots of medicinal powers and is an antioxidant as well as antibacterial. So I decided to research if it works for the hair. Now a days I find myself sticking closer to natural ingredients, less toxic and chemicals on our body the better. There were several sites that shared how amazing honey is for the hair! This one shared a honey conditioner ingredient I am so excited to try!

Benefits of Honey:

Honey is safe for the hair:  Chances are, if you can eat it, you can put it on your body.  Honey contains vitamins, minerals, is antibacterial, acts as a humectant (attracts moisture), and has incredible healing properties.  Many civilizations in the past and today use honey for many, many uses, and honey for hair is one of those uses.   So, honey is definitely safe for the hair and has stood the test of time.

Honey is safe for the body:  Today, many diseases are popping up at an alarming rate due to chemicals and other “crap” that is included in many cosmetics and medicines.  As an example, fibroid tumors and other related hormone imbalances have reached epidemic proportions, due in whole or in part, to these chemicals.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and chemicals are absorbed through the skin.  The skin does such an excellent job of  absorbing things, that medicinal “patches” use this same principle.  These patches are placed on the skin  instead of  the medicine taken orally or some other way.  So whatever you put on your skin and scalp affects your entire body!  But you need not worry with honey, it actually boosts the immune system and is used to treat all kinds of health problems – it has stood the test of time.

Honey Makes the Hair Healthy: Due to the many characteristics of honey, hair is actually nourished and enriched.   It is food for hair.   Keep reading and you’ll find a recipe of mine that will have your hair looking fabulous in no time.

Honey conditioner ingredient by www.HoneyFanatic.com

honey hair mask

2 tbsp Honey

1 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil

1 tsp plain yogurt

(measurements will differ with amount of hair you have)

Put olive oil in bowl and microwave until warm, not hot.  Add honey and yogurt (or buttermilk) to olive oil and stir until well blended.   Apply to damp, clean hair.  You may want to use an applicator bottle to make application easier.  After all the hair has been covered with this honey hair treatment,  put a plastic cap on your hair to keep in the heat. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse with water, then a light shampoo to remove extra residue

Everyday Hair Tools

June 13, 2014

Hi! Just want to share my everyday setup for either cutting or coloring hair.

20140613-085047-31847465.jpg

-Weaving comb
-2 combs: fine/medium tooth & wide tooth for thick hair
-my scissor holder: thinning shears, razor, 2 pairs of scissors
-Croc clips so helpful to control lots of hair
-thin metal clips for removing away smaller hair sections when cutting or coloring
-a stack of precut foil. Lots of it! This definitely helps if you’re in a time crunch
-teasing brush to help with styles or ombres

It’s a simple set up but I feel the most prepared when I have all my tools.
I like to be prepared at all times, you feel more organized & confident. You can take on any task without feeling “all over the place”

I’ll share my setup for weddings next.

How’s your setup? What do you need to have?

Step 1: apply a matte eyeshadow base, I used painterly from MAC this will help your eyeshadow from

creasing throughout the day.

Step 2: You are going to apply the light shadow (#1 on the photo below)

to your entire lid using a flat brush.

Step 3: Using a fluffy blending brush you are going to apply the soft brown color

(#2 in the photo below) to your crease

Step 4: Using the brown shadow you are going to smoke that out

below your lower lash line using a pencil brush

(#3 in the photo below).

Below is a description on where the colors should be place.

Brushes For Your Daily Needs

June 1, 2014

So many brushes..what to use?

Yes brushes can be confusing, because there are so many. I try to keep it simple and researched! the ones that I get asked a lot about. Like for flat ironing hair? Detangling? Thick hair? Teasing? Dandruff…I know a brush for dandruff??

For tangles/detangling: “The Wet Brush “

When you get out of the shower, apply your leave in conditioner/spray/serum and use The Wet Brush to start from the bottom and work your way up. Super gentle to use. You can find this in store at Target or Amazon for like $9 bucks!

Buy it here Amazon: The Wet Brush

For flat ironing/Straightening: Amika Straightening Tension Comb

This will give you just enough tension to hold your hair while combing through tangles while straightening! Makes straightening easier!

Buy it here Amika Straightening Tension Comb

For detangling wet hair in the shower: Wide Tooth Comb

The difference with this and The Wet Brush is, its great to distribute conditioner evenly while in the shower, detangles and the conditioner residue won’t build up in the brush, you can just rinse the teeths of the wide tooth comb. Also great for detangling curly hair in the shower

Buy it here: Wide Tooth Comb

For Dandruff: Good Styling Therapy Reduce Dandruff Copper Infused Brush

So I honestly have not tried this but found it interesting. The bristles on this brush is coated with copper, a natural fungicide which can help prevent the itching and flaking caused by dandruff.

For teasing: Milani Big Tease Comb

Love this for teasing! Thank you to a great hairstylist, Lara C Kay of Studio Kay in Glendale, for sharing this teasing comb. It’s heat resistant, anti static, and very strong. Try it for extra cushion and give volume

Hope this helped!
