Ballerina Bun Tutorial

February 22, 2013

Super simple tutorial for LONG hair! The ballerina bun aka high bun.

Step 1: Gather all your hair into a ponytail position but twisting it all the way to the end

Step 2: The twist will naturally start curling in, so just follow the curl

Step 3: Wrap the end into a bun, going the direction of the twist/curl

Step 4: Pin in place

Project Short bob and lowlights

February 21, 2013

Meet my client, Leslie. We’ve gone from brunette to platinum blonde on her bob! This time she wanted a subtle change with her blonde, so I discovered the perfect lowlight formulation for her that looks so natural!

The color: Lowlight medium brown on her super blonde head, I kept the lowlights away from her face to avoid such a dramatic change. It won’t seem as dark for her, just a subtle change

The cut: Simple bob- she has fine hair and a simple bob is easy for her to style and gives thickness

The style: Round brush blowdry style with Maximista by Oribe

Modified Victorian Rolls Hair Tutorial

February 11, 2013

Looks pretty difficult but actually really easy! To get this look, hair length around the mid back would be perfect just to create the buns in the back. If you have shorter hair, you’ll get a different variation of the twisted bun in the back, still cute though!

So it’s pretty much like the Victorian Rolls/Victory Rolls with a modern twist. Try it out!

1) Part hair down the middle or side and twist back

2) Keep twisting hair back to the nape, leave the rest of the hair hanging

It should be a big fat twist

3) Secure the twists with bobby pins

4) Continue the twist with the hair left hanging all the way to the end

5) Twist in a bun

6) Secure the bun with bobby pins

7) Repeat steps 1-6 on the left side

Here are options for the final look:

The top left, the buns are smaller.

The top right, spread out the buns to make them bigger
